Roschelle Lowe is a Product Management leader based out of Oakland, CA. Currently, she works at Agero (Swoop) where she leads a cross-functional team to build technology that makes it faster for roadside service providers to help customers stuck on the side of the road. Roschelle hopes to use her expertise in project management and people coordination in a way that benefits those seeking support during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Juner Ryan is currently an Emergency Trauma Nurse at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA. He also works as a Public Health Nurse in San Francisco. His nursing expertise include telemetry, oncology, and psychiatric nursing. He is passionate about helping the community around him and abroad. He attended San Francisco State University, University of San Francisco, Chabot College, and Samuel Merritt University for his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. While attending SMU, he served as President of the Student Body Association and also graduated from the Leadershape Institute. In addition, he actively participated in a Nursing study abroad program in Ireland. He was also a camp nurse for two years with Camp Kesem University of California Berkeley. “Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer.” He has also traveled to more than 27 countries and enjoys learning about different cultures and expanding his horizons. He is currently in the process of helping to form a study abroad program between the USA and a Swiss university in Lucerna, Switzerland. He also hopes to pursue a career in nursing consultation. His goal with HelpTestBayArea is to connect community members, frontline workers, grassroots members and community leaders to work together in mass testing the community and to give every community member a chance to make a difference during this pandemic in fostering a sense of community regardless of background or affiliation.

For Frontline worker Lindsay, HelpTestBayArea provides her a platform through which she gives back in her small way to her community. She then finds comfort, knowing that her volunteering helps to keep her family safe.

Journalism/Marketing Manager, I have family and friends who have been directly/indirectly involved with the pandemic. I have seen how this pandemic has affected the community physically, financially and mentally. Bringing awareness and having ample resources available is what the community needs regardless of socioeconomic backgrounds, race, gender, etc.

I currently work as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Highland hospital and have done so the past 14 years. Prior to that I worked at Contra Costa County Regional Medical Center for three years. Before obtaining my RN license I worked as an LVN for 11 years at various outpatient clinics in Contra Costa County.

Diane Zuliani has come to know and love the Bay Area through twenty-one years of award-winning teaching and leadership at Chabot College in Hayward. Her subject is the History of Art, which she presents through the dual lenses of social justice and cross-cultural understanding. Her involvement in HelpTestBayArea was prompted by the terrible toll the pandemic has taken upon students all across the community, and from her personal desire to be part of a solution.

Chris Villanueva is a sales leader with progressive experience in business development, sales, consultative sales, customer acquisition & retention, and sales cycle management—passionate about delivering excellence in healthcare. A lifelong learner, Chris earned a BS in Biology from University of San Francisco, plus a Certification in Physician Leadership from Stanford University, and is currently working towards his Masters in Biomedical Diagnostics in hopes of contributing to the field of infectious diseases such as the novel SARS-CoV-19 virus. Danessa Lerias is a licensed pharmacist at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco and registered nurse at UCSF Medical Center. She grew up in Bakersfield, CA and received her Bachelor's of Science of Nursing at St. Mary's College/Samuel Merritt University and Doctorate in Pharmacy at Touro University. She has been a RN since 2008 and pharmacist since 2015 and enjoys traveling, playing tennis, cooking, swimming, and dancing salsa and belly dancing! As a newly-returned resident of the East Bay, she is looking for a way to actively serve her local community during this unprecedented time of medical need.

I have been an ER nurse in the Bay Area for almost 9 years. I care deeply about the population I serve and believe that everyone should have access to healthcare. This pandemic has highlighted a lot of deficiencies in our healthcare system. I believe strongly that increasing access to testing in our community will help identify outbreaks as they happen, and slow the spread of covid infections. I am hoping to help move toward a safer community and world for us all.

Hi! My name is Veronica I. Palacios. I am a bay area native. Raised in San Francisco and work in Oakland Ca. Salvadorean and proud if it. I work as an Eligibility Specialist at HIGHLAND HOSPITAL (AHS), Emergency Department, for 20 years and counting. Assisting patients with no health insurance, by securing a federally, state and or county funded insurance or program. This secures that our patients continue to receive medical care with no worries. I retired after 29 years in Law Enforcement. I currently work as a consultant for mass transit agencies. I also instruct transit officials, military, and police on security issues involving international transit entities for the US Department of State. I am grateful to help in any way I can in supporting health-care professionals serving the community.

Carlos enjoy the Department of Neurosurgery in 2019. Carlos earned his Master of Science in Advance Nursing / Adult Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with minors in HIV/AIDS and global health from the University of California San Francisco in 2016. In addition to his Master in Advance Nursing, he also has a degree in Clinical Psychology from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia. Carlos mission is to advocate and offer equality on health care to all communities, especially those that have been a victim of discrimination and stigmatization Since he moved to the United States, Carlos had stayed true to his passion for individual care and basic human rights for all by actively seeking opportunities to work with people facing socio-economic barriers and with multiple co-morbidities, such as mental health disorders and substance abuse. Carlos had worked in Social Services Agencies and Federal Qualify Clinics with communities that face isolation, trauma, poverty, discrimination and severe social inequities for the last 20 years. During Carlos’s internal medicine rotation, it become apparent that neurosurgery is a field where he has the opportunity to use his mind to think through complex decisions and help many people in the process and where we he is able to advocate and create positive changes and experiences to his that any other field in medicine. Carlos enjoys traveling, learning from other cultures, spending time with his partner and friends, working out, and walking his two dogs on the beach.

David is a board-certified emergency physician and currently works as an attending physician in the emergency department at Highland Hospital, Alameda Health System. He completed his medical degree and master’s degree at the UCSF-UC Berkeley Joint Medical Program and completed his residency and chief residency at the Boston Medical Center Emergency Medicine Residency Program. He is the Associate Program Director of the Emergency Medicine Residency at Highland Hospital and also serves as an At-Large member of the Medical Executive committee for Alameda Health System. He has an academic appointment as an Associate Clinical Professor at UCSF and is a member of the Academy of Medical Educators. Nationally, he serves on the Education Committee of the American College of Emergency Physicians and on the Council of Residency Program Directors of Emergency Medicine. His academic interests include enhancing diversity in emergency medicine, both as a national speaker and researcher. Most recently, he founded the Highland Social Emergency Medicine Research Diversity Externship for medical students underrepresented in medicine.

Paul Y. Song is a board-certified radiation oncologist who last practiced full-time on staff at the Samuel Oschin Cancer Center at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He currently fills in part-time at Dignity California Hospital where he sees Medicaid and uninsured patients. Dr. Song is the President of Physicians for a National Health Program –California and was a national surrogate for the 2016 and 2020 Bernie Sanders Campaign. He served as the very first visiting fellow on healthcare policy in the California Department of Insurance in 2013. He is a co-founder and the Vice Chairman/Chief Medical Officer of NKMax America, where he is in charge of overseeing all translational research and clinical programs. Dr. Song graduated with honors from the University of Chicago and received his M.D. degree from George Washington University. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Chicago where he served as Chief Resident and did a brachytherapy fellowship at the Institute Gustave Roussy in Villejuif, France. He was also awarded an ASTRO research fellowship in 1995 for his research in radiation inducible gene therapy. Dr. Song serves on the national board of Physicians for a National Health Program, Center for Health and Democracy, and Progressive Democrats of America.
